About Spiced Pear Health

Our Values

Spiced Pear Health was conceived in a square in Prague whilst we were both attending the congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine.

We sat outside in the chilly square, draped in blankets, sipping hot Spiced Pear tea. Although we had only just met, it became clear that we shared the same ideals.

We talked about our frustrations in General Practice, that too little priority was given to women’s health as they passed 40.

We also felt that too many women were soldiering on with the physical, psychological and sexual repercussions of hormonal problems without either they or their GP having the knowledge or expectation of solving them.

As both GPs and women who’ve experienced hormonal imbalance, we felt strongly that our patients needed more than off the shelf, one size fits all solutions. And so Spiced Pear was born.

We can’t wait to meet you.

It’s such a relief to come across a truly professional, dedicated, & caring doctor such as Dr Sharma. She listens, is passionate & forensic about finding the right solution to your problem & then compassionately & medically treats you back to health & happiness.

Our Doctors, Angela and Angela

Dr Angela Sharma

BMS Advanced Menopause Specialist

BSc (Hons), MBCHB, DCH, DRCOG, DFFP, MRCGP, FECSM

Dr Angela Sharma has been a GP in Notting Hill, London for more than 20 years. She has set up and leads a menopause service in her own NHS practice and is passionate about changing the lives and health of women for the better.

She undertook her training in Advanced Menopause Care at Kings College Hospital in London, where she acquired experience in managing complex menopause cases. Since completing her training, she has remained involved with developing online resources on premature menopause for the British Menopause Society and continues to do sessions in the NHS Menopause Clinic at King’s College Hospital.

She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for menopause, an evidenced-based therapy to help improve the symptoms of the menopause. She has completed her training in Clinical Sexology and attended the European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM) School of Sexual Medicine, and has become a Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM). She is qualified in both the psychosexual therapeutic techniques and the medical aspects of sexual dysfunction. She also volunteers at Maggie’s in West London, running menopause and intimacy workshops after cancer.

She also has a BSc in Immunology & Oncology, and Diplomas in Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Family Planning. She leads the surgery clinics for the management of chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, dementia and osteoporosis. She brings this expertise in chronic disease and health in later life into her menopause work, understanding how hormone deficiency impacts long term health outcomes. She is actively involved in teaching and talking about menopause and sexology.

She lives in Southwest London, and when she’s not working, she usually catches up on Netflix and dreams of running another marathon.

A note on our language

Throughout this website, we use the term women when describing people who experience hormonal symptoms. However, we acknowledge not only those who identify as women require access to menopause and hormone health information. For example, some trans men, non-binary people, intersex people or people with variations in sex characteristics may also experience menopausal symptoms and PMS/PME or PMDD, and we warmly welcome everyone who needs this support in our clinic.
